(IALHA) International Andalusian and Lusitano Horse Association

In 2012 IALHA Show Manager Amy Star invited me to produce their annual National Show program within their guidelines, and 2013 saw a return for another.  I also came up with some t-shirt designs for them, and have produced a few combined IALHA and PRE Ads for the show programs!  Here's a 'toast' to growing  my business relationship with this organization ... a girl can never have too much work, right?

IDHSNA (Irish Draught Horse Society of North America)

Examples of advertisements designed by GrafX by Laurie for the IDHSNA, placed in different magazines, including United States Eventing Association (USEA) magazine, Equine Journal, Today's Horse Trader, California Ride Magazine, USDF Magazine, and different regional magazines, on behalf of the Irish Draught  (ID) and Irish Draught Sport Horse (IDSH & ISH). GrafX by Laurie also worked with the IDHSNA on web projects, advertising campaigns, and designing their popular "Blarney" Newsletter for ten years, in addition to setting up their first e-Blarney online newsterrer site before retiring from the organization early in 2013 to move on to other project focuses.

Today’s Horse Trader

I was fortunate enough to work with a wonderful team of people for a period of time at Today's Horse Trader magazine. During that time I was lucky enough to be responsible for some advertising design, logo design, and magazine editing and layout.  Here is a shout out to Norma Vela and Kathryn Donkin!  A great time and wonderful memories.

(FPSH) Foundation for The Pure Spanish Horse

The Foundation for the Pure Spanish Horse were originally looking for a few advertising pieces for their Fiesta of The Spanish Horse Show in 2012.  In 2013 the relationship morphed into being invited to edit, and over time create and manage their magazine, The P.R.E. Horse,  and "up-design" their foundation logo.  Pulling from 'gold of a crown' idea, we came up with an updated version of the Cria logo and came up with a 'masthead' look for the updated logo and corresponding ads.

Pukeko Lawn and Garden

Rick wanted to take an illustration he designed and turn it into a logo for his burgeoning lawn and garden business in November 2013.  Theses are a few of the printed collateral we came up with once the logo's were turned into vector graphics. The "Pūkeko" is one of New Zealand's colorful birds and while commonly called a swamphen, it actually can fly, although when threatened they will often walk away from danger rather than fly. When they fly, take-offs and landings are clumsy, and short flight distances are preferred. The Takahē, the Pukeko's close flightless relative, is approximately three times heavier than Pūkeko (to about 3 kg), having evolved originally in an environment free from humans and ground predators. Introduced predators in New Zealand now threaten the Takahē with extinction.

GrafX by Laurie Logo

Over the years, my own design efforts have morphed from simplistic to fanciful to professional. My latest design update incorporates the celtic trinity concept, and an artful three-pointed simple design that I think actually hits the mark for my work moving foward.  The slider here shows a few of my efforts for GrafX by Laurie over the past 15 years.  They made me smile because I remember 'throwing them together' - today's logo expresses my professional growth, but also retains the 'fun'.

William Micklem

I first worked with Mr. Micklem in producing a product/author ad suitable for the IDHSNA Omnibus and for the Chronicle of the Horse, distributed at the 2010 World Equestrian Games. In 2011 I helped him produce a full page ad on breeding the modern elite event horse, highlighting Karen O'Connor's competition sporthorse, Mandiba.  Mandiba was bred by William Micklem of County Wicklow, Ireland.
